Sustainable Fashion for Low tox Living - with Nina Gbor

Show notes

In Episode 36 Gabby speaks with eco-stylist Nina Gbor.

As the founder of Eco Styles, Nina Gbor is an award-winning sustainability advocate, ethical fashion speaker, writer, educator & climate activist. Nina has a masters in International Development & is a former sustainable fashion tutor in short courses at RMIT University in Melbourne. She coined the phrase “get off the fashion TRENDmill” (or fashion treadmill) to address fashion overconsumption — It’s the notion that individuality & self-knowledge should be the premise for consuming clothing, not fashion trends.

Gabby & Nina discuss:

  • How textile manufacturing can contribute to toxicity in our products (such as clothing)

  • The importance of certification standards for organic & fair-trade clothing

  • Tips on how to source clothing which is good for our bodies, the people who make them, & the environment

  • The benefits of sourcing clothes from local brands

  • Recommendations for ethical, sustainable, low-tox clothing brands
